Barton and Littles pivotal part of SLA&P; retire after more than 30 years at UF

January 26, 2015

Cindy Barton and Ella Littles have both worked at UF for more than 30 years. Now, they are retiring together this semester. “Cindy and Ella greet you every day with a friendly smile and in addition to their deep knowledge of UF and the administration, they have a warmth that makes all of the difference when we come to work each day,” says Kristin Larsen, Director of the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning. “Students, faculty and staff truly appreciate what they do for us.”

During their time at DCP, Barton and Littles have been the face of the Department of Landscape Architecture and Department of Urban and Regional Planning. The majority of the time Barton has worked at UF she has also been with DCP. She will be retiring in February. During the accreditation process for URP, Littles was named as a critical factor in the report, as she is a critical factor in helping graduate students negotiate through the administrative process and successfully complete their degrees. She will be retiring at the end of this month.

In December, the departments held a retirement celebration with members of Barton and Littles’ families, alumni, faculty, staff and students. “It was wonderful to honor what they’ve done for the programs and school,” says Larsen. “We are sad to see them retire, but also really happy for them as they start this next chapter in their lives.”

Thank you for everything, Ella and Cindy! We will miss you and wish you best of luck!
