Through the process of learning design, we believe in developing each student on all levels: as a thought leader, an innovator, a collaborator, and as an ethical and socially engaged human being.. For us, pillars of thought leadership that define the Florida graduate are:

  • Knowledge—where design knowledge is grounded in liberal arts knowledge
  • Process—where a process of pre-design research, idea generation and development, listening and skillful communication, and learning from evaluation leads to creative solutions
  • Innovation—where discovery and exploration guide the process of original thinking, production, presentation and persuasion
  • Empathy—where the centrality of people in designed spaces is coupled with a commitment to sustainable environments
